Sadly, we're heading into summer's final days. And while that definitely does give us a case of the sads, we can dry our eyes in hopes of all the newness that fall will be bringing our way. One such thing is the musical The Color Purple making its return to Broadway. The revival features singer and actress Jennifer Hudson making her Broadway debut in the role of Shug Avery. It also boasts Cynthia Erivo — who starred in the show's London incarnation — in the role of Celie. The two stars come together for a video of the plays title song to show what audiences can expect to see this fall.

Jennifer, dressed impeccably in all black, and Cynthia, rocking a red blazer, sound heavenly on the duet, with their voices harmonizing effortless over the piano-driven arrangement. As the two sing their faces off without looking like their making any kind of effort, scenes from the play's staging across the pond show us what we can expect from the moving play, based on the Alice Walker book of the same name, when it returns to our shores. If you want a preview of the treat that's in store for theater audiences this fall, do yourself a solid and press play below.

The Color Purple, which also includes among its cast Danielle Brooks of Orange Is The New Black fame, will begin previews on November 10th, with the show making its official bow on December 10. For tickets and other info, visit the show's website here.
