Australia may be known as the "Land Down Under," but they consistently come out on top when it comes to bounce-worthy music. Our archives are filled with ridiculously talented artists like Hiatus Kaiyote, Kimbra, Jordan Rakei, Sam Sparro and James Chatburn who've won us over with their distinctive brand of Aussie soul. And after hearing Jess Fairlie's debut "Senses," we're ready to add her to that list.

Hailing from Melbourne and citing varied influences like Stevie Wonder, Regina Spektor and Ricki Lee Jones, the singer/songwriter is readying the release of her eponymous debut EP. "Senses" is a strong introduction to the artist, showcasing the melodic fluidness of her voice. Produced by Rodrigo Enrique Bustos, the ballad is a bittersweet narrative of the boundaries of friendship as one friend watches another remain in a questionable relationship. Fairlie's sweet vocals are partnered with Damian Smith's emotive keywork on piano and organ and further embellished with bluesy guitar and measured drum rhythms -- creating an overall sound that is slightly reminiscent of Alicia Keys' earlier work.

Regardless of your thoughts on how you'd handle the situation (confront your friend, or hold your peace?), take a listen below, and let us know if you're digging Jess's debut as much as we are. While we wait for the official EP release, check out her website and Facebook page for updates.
