Myles Sanko
Hear this: Forever Dreaming

Riding on the heels of his 2013 debut EP, UK-based Myles Sanko has toured with the likes of Gregory Porter, and is garnering a myriad of media attention for his latest project, Forever Dreaming. This project, crowdfunded by his devoted followers, literally fell into my lap one day while in a meeting in Hamburg, Germany. I didn't know what to expect, but I really liked the packaging and was looking forward to listening the the project when I got back home. The album left me with the impression that Myles Sanko is one classy dude and a sophisticated artist. The offering features top flight musicians, including a horn section, and beautiful arrangements of his original compositions.

What I found most refreshing is stylistically, there are multiple colors of the soul spectrum present ranging from classic soul, jazz, afro-beat and neo-soul. And there's a warmth, sincerity and familiarity with the tone of Sanko's voice that pulls you in. Whether you love a good ole Otis Redding joint or Jamiroquai, I think you will find this album interesting. My favorite cut on the album is "My Inspiration." The Fender Rhodes and the percussion remind me of a tasty Gil Scott Heron tune. I look forward to seeing his live show.
