This past weekend's Saturday Night Live welcomed two first-timers to take over the stage when actress/director Elizabeth Banks served as host and the brothers of Disclosure entertained as the musical guest. Banks was cool and at times very funny in her skits, but music aficionados were tuned in to see Howard and Guy Lawrence do their thing live with Caracal collaborators Lorde and Sam Smith joining them.

The Lawrences and Lorde were up first with a live rendition of their track "Magnets." Lorde stood in the foreground while Disclosure toiled away on their instruments and computers behind her and a drumline swayed to the beat behind them. Guy played percussion, Howard laid down synths and Lorde delivered the song's lyrics in her usual dramatic fashion complete with off-kilter dance moves. She was quite a sight, but she didn't distract too much from the complete package of the performance and, most importantly, they all sounded great.

For their second SNL performance, Disclosure brought fellow Brit Sam Smith out to perform "Omen." A newly svelte Smith was dressed in all black like the Omen and took center stage backed by Howard, Guy and four singers, one of which was SoulBounce fave Chris Turner. Although not as hot a track as "Latch," the song that put both artists on the map three short years ago, Disclosure, Sam and the on-point background vocalists clocked in an entertaining performance of the popular Caracal single.
