Tinashe is readying to take her legion of fans on a Joyride with her new album, and a select few got a big surprise today by taking an actual joyride with the singer that ended in Times Square where they witnessed the world premiere of the music video for her current single "Player" on the Sony billboard there. We won't be too jealous of those lucky fans because the visuals are now online for everyone to watch.
In the Emil Nava-directed clip for "Player," Tinashe shows that there are levels to this with a loose video game theme. There are "players" at each level who try to beat Tinashe at various styles of dance. Starting with dancer/choreographer Anthony Burrell, one-by-one her dance partners are no match for her moves. On the final round, however, she comes face to face with her duet partner Chris Brown, and it's on and popping with a sultry dance between the two.
For a song about playing to win when it comes to relationship and sex, we appreciate that the video had a more creative concept that wasn't the typical "boy-meets-girl in a club and they dance together" scenario, or some variation thereof. Press play on "Player" and join us in waiting to see what else Tinashe has in store to keep us interested.
