A Tribe Called Quest has been making a lot of moves lately in honor of the 25th anniversary of their classic rap album, People’s Instinctive Travels and Paths of Rhythm. They’ve performed on The Tonight Show and had some of their best tracks remixed by Pharrell Williams, J. Cole and CeeLo Green. However, the biggest surprise happened at Hot 97’s Hot For The Holidays concert. During Busta Rhyme’s set, the Natives Tongues crew had a mini reunion and performed hip hop’s biggest -- and greatest -- posse cut, “Scenario.”

Tribe, Busta and The Leaders of the New School were all on stage to deliver their now classic verses with the same energy and fervor as 20 years ago when they were all still Similac children in the rap game. The crew didn’t miss a step and the audience was all ears, as people Diddy-bopped, Mary-bopped and almost broke their necks vibing along to the surprise performance by the Universal Zulu Nation crews.

While many of us are hoping for a reunion album, a reunion tour or some other special project in honor of the 25th anniversary of Tribe's debut, performances and shows like this give us our pure, uncut hip hop fix. Seeing such a revered group in hip hop rock a show with no stunts, just flows, lyrics and braggadocio is a call back to a monumental period in the history of rap music.
