Monica Stops By 'Wendy Williams' For A Performance That's 'Just Right'

Monica-WendyWilliams-Dec-17

Monica is set to drop her Code Red this Friday, so it's no surprise that the singer is still on the promo trail. Her most recent stop was on the stage at The Wendy Williams Show. The red-haired veteran R&B singer chatted with the host about her new album and her personal fight for the "restoration of R&B." Besides that and a discussion of what current R&B stars she'd go on tour with, Monica also took the time to give something old and something new to the Wendy audience during a four-minute performance.

First, she took the audience back to 1995 with her debut hit "Don't Take It Personal." The single, which went on to become her signature hit, sounded almost the same as it did 20 years ago. Her grown, sassy voice hasn't lost its beauty, and the song obviously hasn't lost its appeal, as the audience sang along. But her performance wasn't just about the old; it was about the new as well. She seamlessly (well, maybe not quite seamlessly) segued into her current single "Just Right For Me." The bouncy groove went over fairly well, though it wouldn't have hurt if the songstress had moved a little more during the upbeat number. But what she didn't provide in dance moves, she made up for with her soulful voice as she belted out the number and even delivered an extended note to punctuate the song.

You can check out Monica's performance below. Be sure to get your copy of Code Red when it arrives in stores tomorrow.
