Though he might be more known for his oddball persona and his off-kilter raps, there's so much more to Tyler, The Creator. Quiet as its kept, he's actually pretty good at making R&B records, as evidenced by his "Treehome95," his collaboration with Coco O. and Erykah Badu. He proved that he could do it again on his most recent album Cherry Bomb with the song "Perfect." And now he brings us a fitting video for the track.
The entire video is a split screen between Tyler and the song's featured vocalist Kali Uchis. She stands among a crop of sunflowers (some of which help with the backgrounds) with a pastel pink backdrop. Tyler, on the other, sits in front of a baby blue backdrop as butterflies inexplicably cover his torso. As strange as some elements of the clip are, it actually makes for the perfect (pun intended) clip for the hazy R&B ballad, allowing us to focus on the longing in Kali's vocal and the dreamy production. And by the time singer/guitarist Austin Feinstein drops in to break up the song's groove and visual as he stares at the camera blankly, the oddly perfect mood is complete. Kudos to the clip's director (who also happens to be Tyler, working under his alias Wolf Haley).
