IC: It’s all good. I respect everybody’s decision as actors. You know where your career is at the time you get an offer and you know what you’re trying to do. So, when a movie is not right, you got to step. I’ve been approached for movies that just weren’t right. It’s like, I love you, but I can’t do them. When a project is not right for you, you shouldn’t do it, period.
SB: I’m from Zimbabwe, and, of course, we watch Barbershop and all American movies. So, of course the work that you do spans across borders and the globe. What is the main takeaway that you hope that everyone gets from Barbershop: The Next Cut?
IC: A sense of community. A sense of their own community, and how can they live together, get better with each other. That is the best thing that could come out of the movie. That’s the maximum. The minimum, laugh and have a good time. It’s two hours to take all the stuff off of your mind and have a good time.
CTE: I would say the same thing. I think it’s about the message of the movie, which is that we are responsible to each other as far as community, friendship and business. That’s the same around the world. We are accountable to and responsible for each other in so many ways just by our skin color. We didn’t know you were from Zimbabwe until you said something. You’re just a black person. It is as important for you to be as elegant and as beautiful because you represent us, black people. I think that’s a responsibility we all have. Then, it’s the opportunity for us to see ourselves on the screen. Go in and laugh at a good movie with a good story.
RH: I agree. I think it’s good when a movie makes you laugh, but also when you leave that it sparks a discussion. I like movies that make me think and give me something to talk about. I hope this movie does that.
