Talib Kweli and 9th Wonder teamed up for their first collaborative effort Indie 500 back in November, and now they're bringing us the visuals for the standout track "Life Ahead of Me." Featuring fellow Jamla artist Rapsody, the single is supported by an infectious hip hop beat and beautiful keys. The Cam Be-directed visuals feature Rapsody and Talib in front of a grey backdrop accompanied by creative animation to support their clever bars. "This path got hurdles / Smoke rappers to make up for the herbal," says Rapsody while animated smoke comes from her mouth.
The clean and simple video, with its vibrant colors and graphics, serves as the perfect accompaniment to the new single. Just like Talib and Rapsody's last video for "Every Ghetto," also directed by Cam Be, you won't find 9th Wonder in this one either, but the beat he produced represents his undeniable presence. A highlight of the video is Rapsody. While she has her own project Beauty and the Beast, the femcee has been building momentum through memorable features with the likes of Anderson .Paak, Kendrick Lamar and Murs.
Talib and 9th Wonder are still breathing life into Indie 500, which is available on Amazon and iTunes now, with a heap of features including Pharoahe Monch, Problem, Brother Ali and more. 9th just dropped ZION, a mixtape of instrumentals, over Memorial Day weekend that we promptly added to our playlists. As for Talib, he is on tour and you can catch him in a city near you by checking out his tour dates on his website.
