Five years. That's the unbearably long wait we had to endure for KING to finally bless us with their epic full-length debut We Are KING. So we get pretty darn excited whenever they pop up in our newsfeed. Instagram post? Hooray! Spotify Sessions? Yassss! Fall Tour? Hells yeah! Late night TV appearance with Corinne Bailey Rae? We live! New music video? SQUEALS! That's right folks, Amber Strother, Paris Strother and Anita Bias just dropped a stunning set of visuals for "Native Land" right before they hit the road on September 18th.

This is the group's third video from the album, and like its predecessors, animation is used to provide a viewing experience that's as unique as the music it represents. In recent years, we've seen various styles/amazing examples of this creative medium from SB faves like Kindred the Family Soul, CeeLo GreenGeorgia Anne Muldrow, Emily King, Tuxedo and Gabriel Garzón-Montano (to name a few). But none have used it as consistently as the Cali trio. After the supremely cool video game treatment for "The Greatest," the trippy hand-drawn motions in "Carry On" and now the vibrant graphics in "Native Land," we think the ladies of KING reign supreme when it comes to animated music videos.

According to Paris, the narrative theme for the video was inspired by KING's desire to "imagine a visual journey through the landscapes of birth, life, and death, paying homage throughout to every person’s unique ancestral story." Director Filip Anthonissen creates a fantasy world filled with vivid hues of flora and fauna. A lovely trio of Rubenesque deities act as guardians of the lush landscape, caring for plants and animals with equal devotion. When an evil outsider causes a fatal stain on their unblemished paradise, the troika springs into action and leaves us with a beautiful tribute to the circle of life.
