I was introduced to Tamara Nivillac during my first trip to the Netherlands to attend an Avery*Sunshine concert. We started following each other on Instagram not too long after that evening. After I heard her voice, however, I was just speechless. It is so smooth, expertly controlled, soulicious and beautiful. This gifted singer/songwriter hails from Curaçao and is the granddaughter of renowned novelist Arthuro Eduardo Leito. Fueled by a series of wins in national music competitions (“Curaçao Talents” and “The Caribbean Gospel Festival”), Tamara began embarking upon an music career as a teenager.

Her unique style containing R&B, jazz and Afro-Caribbean influences recorded in both English and her native language of Papamiento, is one she simply calls Acoustic Afro-Caribbean Soul. Lyrically and aesthetically think India.Arie but with some Caribbean spices sprinkled on top. She moved to Europe in 2008 with the hopes to expand her following internationally. And that she did. Now with more than 10 years in the music industry, she has lent her immaculate vocals to various projects, shared the stage with numerous top European and Caribbean recording artists and has even performed for the Royal Dutch family.
