Nneka's 'Nothing' Is Something To Behold

On her last project, 2015’s My Fairy Tales, Nneka preached from the "Book of Job." But for her current single “Nothing,” the Nigerian singer/songwriter switches to the New Testament, paraphrasing Romans 8: 38-39 for the song’s powerful chorus. "Nothing can separate me from Your love," she insists, "No heights, no depths, no demons, no angels."

We got our first taste of "Nothing" about two years ago via social media when she dedicated the acoustic ballad "to the ones who have passed on and to those who remain and have to feel pain." But given the current state of the world and our own country bracing for The Windbag the winds of change on January 20th, it's understandable that she finally released it as an official single.

Nneka's vocals are raw, yet delicate and graceful, almost breaking under the weight of her emotion. The monochromatic visuals further arrest your attention, allowing the lyrics to take root and leave a lasting impression. We're not sure if this means an album is coming soon, or if she simply wanted to give us some musical healing. Either way, we receive her positive vibes as we transition into this new year. Bear witness to Nneka's latest below, stream or purchase the song via your favorite app or retailer, and keep up with the singer on Twitter and Instagram.
