John Coltrane Doc 'Chasing Trane' Arriving This April

Saxophonist John Coltrane was a legendary and innovative figure in jazz, so it's only right that his legacy is immortalized on film. That's exactly what happens in the upcoming documentary Chasing Trane. The film aims to elucidate the musician's short life (he died in 1967 at the young age of 40) through archival footage, performances and photographs as well as the words of those inspired by him, including Common, Bill Clinton, Kamasi Washington, Wynton Marsalis, Sonny Rollins and Carlos Santana. And, due to the fact that he rarely did radio interviews and surprisingly never gave a television interview before his untimely death, award-winning actor Denzel Washington will narrate the documentary using John's own words. The film is set to premiere at New York's IFC Theater on April 14th, with a wider rollout to come after. View the documentary's trailer here. #TraneLivesOn
