Is A Rihanna/Lupita Nyong'o Buddy Movie In The Works?

The internet, especially Black Twitter, has always had a unique power to make things happen, but it might've outdone itself this time. It all started when a Twitter user posted a photo of Rihanna and Lupita Nyong'o sitting beside each other at a fashion show in 2014. From there, another user wrote, "Rihanna looks like she scams rich white men and lupita is the computer smart best friend that helps plan the [scams]." That was all Black Twitter needed to set the wheels in motion for what could become the buddy comedy of 2020. Twitter users latched on to the idea and ran with, eventually catching the interest of Rih and Lupita themselves, who both agreed they'd be down to do it. Soon, Insecure writer and star Issa Rae said she'd be down to write the screenplay and director Ava DuVernay said she's ready to direct when they are. Wait, what? Did the internet really just create and cast a movie starring two of the biggest representers of #BlackGirlMagic with powerful women in front of and behind the camera? Yes, yes they did. #ComingSoon
