Charlotte Dos Santos Offers Good Vibes With 'Good Sign'

One of the reasons we selected Charlotte Dos Santos as one of our Bounce-Worthy artists was because of her ability to channel the sounds of the past and bring them into the present. She did this on the first track we heard from her, "Red Clay," and she does it once again on her latest single, "Good Sign."

We mentioned that her "Red Clay" had elements that reminded us of the legendary Minnie Riperton and that trend continues on "Good Sign." In fact, its dreamy instrumentation will immediately put you in mind of the late soul legend's Come To My Garden era. Harpsichord, bass and piano come together dreamily, creating a sound that wafts lovingly into the air. Charlotte's sweet vocal then joins the music as she coos the song's opening lyrics: "Baby, we've spent some time together / But I know I should be cautious." However, though her mind is telling her to play things cool, her heart has different plans, as exemplified by growing emotion in her voice as she sings, "But when I'm around you / I can hardly breathe / Or speak." Her delivery drifts between decidedly measured and restless abandon, illustrating the shifting moods of a woman in love.

"Good Sign" and "Red Clay" will both appear on Charlotte Dos Santos' upcoming EP Cleo. And for those of us who can't get enough of her modern-retro take on soul, we're happy to report that the set will be arriving on June 21st. Give "Good Sign" a listen below and prepare to fall in love with the songstress again.
