AlunaGeorge has been holding us captive in their web for quite some time now. Since first bursting onto the scene back in 2011, frontwoman Aluna Francis and her partner George Reid have built a strong and loyal fanbase around the world thanks to their sound that spans across multiple genres. Now those fans have not just one reason to rejoice, but two, thanks to "Last Kiss" and "Turn Up the Love," a pair of singles the duo has recently dropped off.
The first new music to come from the British duo in 2017 and since last year's I Remember, the two songs are perfect for the summer days ahead courtesy of the light and sunny vibes they bring forth. Both of the mid-tempo ditties dabble in the dancehall/pop hybrid made popular by artists like No Doubt and more recently, Drake. Francis showcases her versatility, her sugary vocals conveying both the restorative optimism found on "Turn Up the Love" and the plaintive longing of "Last Kiss." Whether she's taking a good hard look at a relationship that is nearing its end or recommending the world adds more love to the menu, she delivers the catchy hooks and their accompanying concepts with ease.
Next month, AlunaGeorge will next be hitting the road with fellow Brits Coldplay as part of the band's A Head Full Of Dreams Tour. To find out where the North American tour will land, check out the list of dates after you take these two tracks for a spin.
