Ibeyi Explores Birth In 'Deathless,' Reveals More Details About New Album 'Ash' & Shares Tour Dates

French-Cuban duo Ibeyi are gearing up to drop their new album in the next month. Earlier this summer, twins Lisa-Kaindé Diaz and Naomi Diaz announced their upcoming project, and now we have more details about the sophomore effort, including its title, tracklist, the next single and it accompanying music video.

The album is entitled Ash, and it will feature 12 songs, boasting guests Kamasi Washington, Meshell Ndegeocello, Spanish rapper Mala Rodriguez and pianist Chilly Gonzales. On Ash, Ibeyi will explore womanhood, spirituality, activism and racism, all while serving pop, hip-hop and electronic sounds and incorporating the traditional sounds of Yorùbá that we've grown accustomed to hearing from the Diaz sisters.

Following up lead single "Away Away" and its carefree visual, Ibeyi debuts the second single "Deathless," featuring Kamasi on saxophone, with a symbolic clip. Directed by Ed Morris, the video explores the continuous cycle of life in a number of scenes where the sisters give birth – to each other. Lisa-Kaindé is seen first, laying on the floor in a red dress as hands emerge through the buttons around her abdomen. Those hands are soon revealed to belong to a miniature Naomi, who climbs out of her sister's dress, crawls to a spot on the floor, lays down and in turn gives birth to her sister. What follows is a continuous loop of one sister birthing the other. It's artistic, weird and deep all rolled into one as they stretch your imagination in the visually stunning clip.

Ash is scheduled to drop on September 29th and is available for pre-order now. Ibeyi will start their world tour shortly thereafter, kicking off on September 30th in France. The Diaz sisters will hop across Europe and North America until wrapping up on December 7th.
