Back in July, MNEK brought us "Paradise," a beautiful track with dark undertones that made us think about the state of the world. Just a month later, the single is even more relevant with violence, terror attacks and tragedies happening around the world, taking us farther away from paradise. After recently dropping the visuals for the single, the UK singer/songwriter/producer has decided to follow it up with an acoustic version that really gets to the heart of the matter.
The original had enough percussion and thump to keep the tears at bay on the dance floor, but this acoustic take does the opposite. MNEK strips the track back to just his vocals with support from a keyboardist whose playing takes us to a solemn place. A beautiful take on the track, it helps evoke all of the hopeless emotions we've been feeling, while MNEK's vocals continue to give us life.
Complementing the acoustic rendition of "Paradise" is a music video of MNEK in an empty warehouse wailing into the microphone while the keyboardist accompanies him in the background. The simple visual eliminates any distractions, encouraging viewers and listeners to take in the song's message.
Since MNEK is in such a giving mood lately, we hope that he continues to share new music and maybe even some album news. While we impatiently wait for what's next, join us in taking in this emotion-filled performance right now.
