Netflix Toasts To 25 Years Of Def Comedy Jam With New Special

Netflix has been stealing HBO's formula for success with very little shame. Now they're outright stealing their shows. Or at least celebrating one of the most important ones to the culture. The streaming giant will be celebrating Def Comedy Jam's 25th anniversary with a new special to premier this fall. Created in 1992 by Russell Simmons and hosted by Martin Lawrence, Def Comedy Jam served as a spotlight for up-and-coming Black comedians. Raw, provocative and most of all funny, the show has an impressive legacy that no other comedy showcase has been able to reproduce. Sorry, Comic View. Many of these stars, like Dave ChappelleMike Epps, Cedric the Entertainer and Katt Williams, would go on to become household names. And Steve Harvey - pre-zoot suit era has become a media mogul. These esteemed alumni of the show, along with new faves like Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish, will pay homage to the legendary show on Def Comedy Jam 25. Now our question is, will Netflix be stealing the upcoming reboot of the show, too? #JokesOnHBO
