Aside from her collaboration with singer/songwriter Khalid on the single “Electric” back in January, we haven’t heard much from sultry songstress Alina Baraz in 2017. Though we’ve been keeping her 2015 EP Urban Flora alongside Danish electronic producer Galimatias in very heavy rotation, as the colder months ensue, we are yearning for new additions to our Cuffing Season playlists. Well, you must simply ask and you shall receive. Alina has recently laced us with not one but two tracks that are sure to provide the perfect soundtrack for some cuddle time.
On “Buzzin,” her signature seductive tone glides over a smooth track produced by Delaware-born, Miami-based producer Ben "Billions" Diehl, who we know from his work creating hits for the likes of Beyoncé and The Weeknd. It seems Baraz is yearning for something new as well as she pleads, “Give me something that I never had / Give me something and I'll meet you halfway / A little something that's gonna make it last / One for you, one for me.” We’re all for keeping things fresh, and this track is sure to keep us, well, buzzin’ thru the fall.
The sensual songbird continues to keep things sexy with the second release, “Lavender and Velvet.” Over a Jonathan Elkaer-produced track, she tells her lover exactly how it’s going down once they get together. Clearly, the two know exactly how to turn each other on, and she is looking to light that fire once again. She sings, “Let my love run wild / Let me, let me love you down,” in a lustful tone as soft as a whisper. This is the type of grown-up sexy we’ve come to love Alina for, and these two singles do not disappoint.
While there’s no word on whether the release of these tracks is in preparation for a new album, we’ll just place our request on the musical altar. In the meantime, give “Buzzin” and “Lavender and Velvet” a spin below, and snuggle up for some sexy adult time. Also, Coldplay fans can catch her on the A Head Full Of Dreams Tour on select dates in California, so be sure to get the lowdown on all of her moves on her website.
