As a background vocalist for some of the biggest names in contemporary R&B, it seems Jessica Jolia has been "twenty feet from stardom" for quite some time. So after an exclusive listen of her summer sizzler "Want You," we knew that would change upon the release of her debut album Hearts & Daggers. Sadly, the projected September release date was pushed back, forcing us to wait even longer for the anticipated project. The talented singer/songwriter feels our pain, though, and was kind enough to drop some newness in the form of the new track "Still" to help curb our appetites until the main course comes along.
Although it's described as a "sweet, soulful, reflective Christmas ballad," the sentiment of this beautiful torch song will linger well past the close of 2017. Putting her multi-octave range and pristine harmonies on display, Ms. Jolia opens the floodgates and drowns us in a river of feels throughout the original, self-produced track. Lovely vocals float over an elegant piano arrangement embellished with gorgeous, emotive strings by Joe Archie. While this isn't the first time Ms. Jolia has blessed our holiday playlists, "Still" has left us hoping and praying it won't be the last.
