Jimetta Rose Offers An Optimistic Close To The Year With 'Wonderful World'

This year has been a huge roller coaster, taking us to the highest of highs and lowest of lows. Luckily, we've always got music to get us through it all. Speaking of which, the last time we heard from Jimetta Rose, she dropped off her stellar set The Light Bearer. It's only fitting, then, that she helps us end 2017 with a bit of light by taking on a hopeful classic.

The classic we're referring to is Louis Armstrong's ubiquitous 1967 tune "What A Wonderful World," which has had a lasting life ever since its introduction to the masses. Jimetta takes on the cover with an arrangement that throws back to the original's jazzy nature. The first part of the song is lush and jazzy, with strings, a choir and cymbal flourishes that remind us the original's beautiful power. However, halfway through the song, she switches things up, and elements of soul into the mix and even some of her own original lyrics into the mix. Her update shows just how timeless the song is and will forever be.

As we close the book on 2017, it's nice to go into the new year remembering just how wonderful life truly can be and we thank Jimetta for reminding us of that. Take a listen to "Wonderful World" below.
