Soul On Film: LeBron James To Produce 'House Party' Remake, Mary J. Blige Lands 'Umbrella Academy' Role
Two new and very interesting film developments have been announced recently. First up, baller LeBron James has signed on to produce a remake of House Party, the beloved '90s Kid 'n Play flick that became a cult classic and spawned a bevy of sequels. James is wary to call the project — which is being penned by Stephen Glover (brother of Donald Glover) and Jamal Olori — a remake, instead calling it "an entirely new look for a classic movie." Meanwhile, Mary J. Blige has signed on for her first post-Oscar nomination project, Netflix's Umbrella Academy. In the series, she'll play a ruthless, sociopathic hitwoman named Cha Cha, who happens to have a super-powered family in her sites. Consider our interest in both projects piqued. #BlackScreenMagic
