dvsn Sets The 'Mood' With A 'One In A Million' Aaliyah & Prince Tribute In The 1Xtra 'Live Lounge'

Canadian R&B duo dvsn is hotter than ever since the 2017 release of their sophomore album Morning After. The GTD combo of Nineteen85's behind-the-scenes wizardry and Daniel Daley's toe-curling falsetto is impossible to resist, and thanks to a successful tour and several high-profile performances, the fellas are making sure that everyone gets a chance to see/hear that they're the real deal. A recent stop to BBC Radio 1Xtra's Live Lounge proved just that as they blessed the mics with their signature sound.

Embracing the Live Lounge tradition of performing a cover tune along with an original song, dvsn reached into their vault and delivered a revamped performance of their 2016 "One In A Million (dvsn remix)," a simmering mash-up of Aaliyah's hit song and Prince's classic "Purple Rain." With the studio appropriately bathed in purple lighting, Nineteen85 further set the tone with electric guitar and programmed beats. A harmonic trio of background vocalists slayed their interpretation of Baby Girl's sultry vocals while Daniel's homage to the Paisley Prince made us want to sway with our cell phone "lighters" held high.

While that was certainly a tough act to follow, they weren't through with us just yet. The quintet gave us their version of a musical red light special and set the studio ablaze with a slow-burning performance of "Mood." Watch the colorful clips below and keep up with dvsn on Twitter and the 'Gram as they prepare to wrap their Morning After World Tour. If you haven't had a chance to see them live yet, make plans to catch them when they make their summer festival rounds.
