Jody Watley Exudes Elegant Cool In 'Waiting In Vain'

Jody Watley already pleasantly surprised us once this year with her unexpected take on Bob Marley's "Waiting In Vain." She now manages to do it once again, this time with the song's breathtaking video. Actually, we shouldn't call it that, as what she's created with director Damien Sandoval is much more akin to a short film.

She channels the romantic feel of classic black-and-white films from the '40s and '50s, but gives it all a modern-day spin in the clip. We see the songstress, dressed brim to toe in stylish black, as she delivers her laid-back take on the song out and about in the L.A. streets. Whether she's posing in front of graffiti, leaning against a signpost or gingerly sipping a margarita while sitting at a table outside a cafe, Jody exudes an effortless, elegant cool throughout the six-minute short film like only she can. Oh, and the singer also gets to fulfill a longtime wish with the clip as well as it features two dancers who passionately dance the tango for the camera. "I've wanted to showcase a bit of tango dancing in one of my videos and this song and film provides the perfect setting," she said about the dancers' inclusion.

We don't know about you guys, but we'd love to hear and see more from Ms. Watley exploring this creative vein, as she nails everything here perfectly. But what did we expect? She is Jody Watley, after all. Be prepared to fall under her spell when you check out "Waiting In Vain" below.
