Wynton Marsalis Has Some Harsh Words For Hip-Hop

Remember that foolywang that we talked about earlier? Here it is! Known jazz curmudgeon Wynton Marsalis decided to let his thoughts on hip-hop fly this week while appearing on the Washington Post podcast Cape Up. When asked about the genre, he expresses thoughts he's been spouting for decades now, though his response is probably related to the recent n-word kerfluffle involving Kendrick Lamar. Pointing to the genre's frequent use of words like "n***a," "b***h" and "ho," he claims that the genre is "more damaging than a statue of Robert E. Lee." After being called out about the sheer hypocrisy (after all, jazz — his medium of choice — was at one time considered "devil music" by the powers that be as well), he responded with a lengthy Facebook post that pretty much amounted to a wordy version of "I said what I said." Hey, Wynton, no one's begrudging you your outdated opinion, no matter how loud and wrong it may be. #WhyYouMadThough
