Sinead Harnett Shows The Difficulty Of Letting Go In 'Body'

As anyone who's ever fallen out of love will tell you, breaking up is hard to do. Singer Sinead Harnett also knows the adage to be true and even wrote a song about it called "Body." With its sultry R&B groove and suggestive chorus, the track might make it seem like the "Anywhere But Here" singer is trying to rekindle an old flame. If you listen closely to the lyrics, though, you'll find that she's trying to muster the strength to leave but just can't seem to help falling back into the arms of a lover who's no good for her.

Sinead opts to give us a less literal interpretation of the dilemma in the song's recently released video. Miss Harnett looks fierce AF as she rocks sexy fashions and an asymmetrical bob against backdrops that frequently change color. She also sells the conflicting emotions she brings up in the song's lyrics, performing a choreographed routine with a shirtless male dancer to represent the constant push and pull she's feeling as she attempts to make a final decision. And what is that final decision, you ask? Well, the video leaves that interpretation kind of open-ended, though Sinead did tell Refinery29 that the relationship that inspired the song was much more definite. "The song came about because I was messing around with the idea of still having a relationship with this guy, but deep down I knew I couldn't," she told the publication. "I sent back all of my ex's stuff in an Uber. I was really in the thick of the drama, and obviously that helped. The song was my way of being with him again, without actually being with him. Really, it was a goodbye song, but it sounds like I'm going back to him."

Either way you decide to interpret it, the video is still an enthralling watch. Check it out below.
