Beware Of The Freaks In De La Soul's 'Whoodeeni'

After an 11-year studio break, De La Soul unleashed the killer collection, And the Anonymous Nobody… to much acclaim. The triumphant return was bittersweet, however, after a major health scare threatened to sideline Dave indefinitely. Of course, Posdnuos and Maseo put album promotions and touring on hold and stood by their boy throughout the whole ordeal. Now that his condition is under control, they're back to doing what they do best, giving the people what they want! That means touring and delivering creative visuals that leave a lasting impression.

The latest clip from Nobody is for the Whodini-sampling, 2 Chainz-featuring "Whoodeeni," and it's pretty wild. Apparently, the freaks really do come out at night. A possessed Zoltar-like machine is on a mission to assassinate the epochal emcees, chasing them throughout a trippy multiverse. Meanwhile, 2 Chainz adds to the mind-bending madness with an unconventional cameo. For the animated short, director Kristian Mercado called in Buenos Aires studio DeTuco to help bring the multidimensional vision to life. She says, "I wanted to capture the feeling of pressure and being chased as an overall theme and mix that with magical elements. The idea of time and feeling of desperation."

Peep the freaky visuals below and keep your fingers crossed for more videos from the album. Better yet, make plans to to see De La live. The rap trio has some major performances coming up including London's OnBlackheath festival (with Corinne Bailey Rae and Paloma Faith), Denver's Grandoozy festival (a stacked lineup that includes Kendrick Lamar and Stevie Wonder) and The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill 20th Anniversary Tour (with Ms. Lauryn Hill and Dave Chappelle) at The Hollywood Bowl.
