Some things are just meant to be and require little more than being in the right place at the right time with the right people. “Better,” the latest single from songwriter/producer/musician SG Lewis, is a prime example of this type of cosmic alignment. An initial meeting turned into a chance writing session with electro-pop singer Clairo and resulted in this feel-good track with disco appeal that is perfect for the summer.
SG says he played the instrumental for Clairo, who jumped right in and immediately began writing the tale about budding love. The two continue to capitalize on their chemistry and recently shot a vibrant video to accompany the track. The Weird Life Films-produced visual was shot in Chicago and captures the carefree duo in brightly colored tracksuits using a somewhat fish-eye view. We know that SG has a knack for paying homage to those that have come before him, so viewers are also treated to late '90s-style footage of the two driving around the city living it up, a trope seen in much of the music videos during that time.
After you check out the video for “Better” below, you just might feel the urge to dust off your shiny suit for old time’s sake. The single is the latest release from SG Lewis' upcoming album featuring J Warner, Kartell and others yet to be announced.
