Mariah Carey & Ty Dolla $ign Want To Go 'The Distance'

Mariah Carey is getting ready to throw her Caution to the wind next month. Having given us two earworm-y ballads with "GTFO" and "With You," MC is in full-on album promo mode. To that effect, she's giving us yet another listen to the set with the release of new single "The Distance."

Mariah teams up with West Coast singer Ty Dolla $ign on the track, which is (surprise, surprise) a ballad about the strength of her love. This time around, though, Mariah and Ty are also addressing the haters who said their thing wouldn't last. "Ain't nobody stoppin' us / What we have is dangerous / Left their opinions in the dust / Said can't nobody f**k with us," Mariah sings over soft strains of organ at the song's beginning. Once the song finds its synth bump and groove, things get a bit more interesting as both MC and Ty sing about defying the expectations of naysayers talking about their love. Though the song is pretty run of the mill as far as modern R&B songs are concerned, we're pretty sure fans of the two will find something to love — even with the weird cheerleading chant that bookends the track.

Now that we've gotten a taste of what the slower side of Caution sounds like, we'd love to hear something with a higher bpm before the album's November 16th release date. Will Mariah make that happen? We'll see. Until then, enjoy "The Distance" below.
