Sy Smith Delivers Holiday Cheer With 'Christmas in Syberspace'

From the #SySmithSessions to her fifth studio album, Sometimes A Rose Will Grow In Concrete (and subsequent tour), Sy Smith has been showering us with musical blessings all year and our lives have been the better for it. She owes us nothing, and yet, here she is again, gifting us with new music. Literally. Our girl is in full "holiday spirit" mode, surprising us with her first ever Christmas project, appropriately titled Christmas in Syberspace, and she's giving it away for free!

It's evident that the six-track collection was designed to be enjoyed in one sitting, as each track from "Hark! The Intro" to "The Little Drummer Boy" flows seamlessly into the next. Produced by up-and-coming producer Isaac "Bam Rich" Richardson, the festive EP is everything you'd expect from the enchanting singer-songwriter – stratospheric vocals infused with soul, jazzy harmonies birthed in the clouds, and, of course, "Syberized" interpretations of holiday classics like "My Favorite Things." "Shoes with fat laces and oversized glasses / Watching my people rise up from the ashes / Sharing a smile with that guy on the train / These are a few of my favorite things," Sy sings, flipping the Christmas script.

If you're not contributing a dish to the Thanksgiving meal on Thursday, at least come through with a bomb playlist, anchored by Christmas in Syberspace. Even though Sy is giving it away for free via Bandcamp, we encourage you to support independent artistry by making a donation when you download this Yuletide gem. If you prefer other digital platforms, Sy's got you covered as well, promising that it will be available everywhere later this week. In addition to her great music, you can also visit her SyberShop to purchase merch from her signature RoseFist Collection.
