Fans of the GRAMMY Award-winning and multifaceted musician Anderson .Paak let out a collective "Yes Lawd!!" when the always unpredictable artist confirmed both new music and an upcoming tour. Just a few months following the release of his third studio album Oxnard, he announced that a new project entitled Ventura is on its way in April. The news didn’t come as a complete surprise, because during his recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon he noted that he had two albums worth of music made with legendary producer Dr. Dre. While explaining the contrast between the gritty town of Oxnard where he grew up and the next town over, he also spoke about the city of Ventura, stating, “It gave me a lot more character and soul, and I think I have a lot more soul music to present.” Though his candid yet cryptic statement raised our music-loving antennas, given that he is gearing up to head out on the European leg of his Andy’s Beach Club World Tour, we assumed we’d have to wait for new music. Much to our delight, .Paak is ready with more than enough material to feed our soulful appetites.
Those of us who were lucky enough to have seen his amazing, high energy live show are ready once again to give Cheeky Andy all of our coins. This is especially the case now that a few more of our favorites will be joining him as part of his aptly titled, Best Teef In The Game Tour. Along with The Free Nationals, bass gawd Thundercat will join each show, while Earl Sweatshirt, Noname, Mac DeMarco and Jesse Reyez will make appearances on select dates. The tour kicks off on May 17th in Nashville, TN and will make its way across the U.S. and Canada before wrapping up in San Francisco on June 27th.
Tickets officially go on sale on March 8th and will include a CD or digital copy of his upcoming album Ventura, which is scheduled to drop on April 12th via Aftermath Entertainment. Presale tickets will also be available for Ticketmaster Verified Fan registrants beginning March 4th and American Express card members for select markets beginning March 5th.
