Alice Smith, Liv Warfield & More To Perform During Apollo Theater's 3rd Annual 'Women Of The World Festival'

Women’s History Month is in full swing with gatherings, events and functions popping up across the nation. One that has caught our attention is the 3rd Annual Women of the World (WOW) Festival at the historic Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York. The festival, which is underway now through March 17th, is a celebration of empowerment and activism that includes fireside chats, panel discussions, concerts, comedy performances, interactive workshops and so much more.

The WOW Festival offers conversations with social, political, and cultural icons, artists, activists and journalists such as Angela DavisSuze Orman and April Ryan along with a host of other accomplished moderators, facilitators, presenters and panelists exploring topics ranging from feminism and colorism to financial independence and entrepreneurship. It kicked off on Tuesday, March 12th with a conversation between Nikki Giovanni and Dr. Johnnetta B. Cole.

The festival balances the work of dissecting and dismantling constructs that limit women and girl’s achievement with the renewing respite brought through community building, laughter, dance and music. The WOW lineup showcases a bevy of talented female singers who'll perform over the course of the festivities. Bluesy soul vocalist Alice Smith and funk goddess Liv Warfield will perform on the Apollo mainstage on Friday, March 15th. That same night at Apollo Music Cafe, voice percussionist Butterscotch will take the stage and on Saturday, March 16th the “Rock Ballerina” herself Kimberly Nichole will do the same.

Harlem is a fitting location to host WOW’s 3rd annual New York Festival. It is, after all, home to trailblazing, obstacle-surmounting, female activists, artists, innovators and businesswomen, both past and present. And, there is no better place to showcase all of this estrogen-powered greatness than the historic Apollo Theater, “Harlem’s cultural and civic anchor,” as described by its executive producer Kamilah Forbes.

Celebrate the limitless potential of women and girls by joining the conversation and celebration at the 3rd Annual WOW Festival. Visit the WOW Festival website now to RSVP for free events and purchase tickets.
