BGR! FEST Adds Leela James, Elle Varner, Rapsody, A Surprise Guest & More Black Girls Who Rock

Washington, D.C. will be the heart of Black Girl Magic and Black Excellence when the inaugural BGR! FEST takes place at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts the weekend of March 8th-10th. The highly anticipated festival is an extension of the Black Girls Rock! brand founded by Beverly Bond. BGR! FEST will feature a three-day celebration of music, culture and Black women during International Women's Day's weekend and include an opening night party with Bond and MC Lyte djing, a book talk and panel discussion and a big concert to close out the festivities.

Not only is Beverly Bond's Black Girls Rock! baby growing, but so is the BGR! FEST. Joining previously announced performers Jazmine Sullivan and Maimouna Youssef at the ROCK LIKE A GIRL! closing night concert on Sunday, March 10th is a slew of artists. Newly added to the fête are singers Leela James and Elle Varner and femcees Rapsody and Nonchalant who will all grace and rock the KenCen stage alongside Sullivan and Mumu Fresh. The DMV's own all-female go-go band Be'La Dona will serve as the house band, DJ Quiana Parks will set the musical mood on the turntables and radio personality Angie Ang will host. In addition, we've heard through the grapevine that a top secret artist has also been added to the lineup. The identity of the surprise guest is under wraps, so attendance is a must to see who it is. Given Black Girls Rock!'s known track record of excellence, expect to be blown away by the big reveal at the show.

Tickets for BGR! FEST's ROCK LIKE A GIRL! concert are on sale via the Kennedy Center's website or at the box office. Great seats are still available, but with a lineup this incredible, they won't be for long. Make plans to be there and visit the BGR! FEST website for additional info.
