Gladys Knight, Babyface, Tweet & More Scheduled To Play The 27th Annual Capital Jazz Fest


As warmer weather is finally making its appearance, we are all looking forward to festival season. The folks over at Capital Jazz Productions are making sure that music fans everywhere are adding the 27th Annual Capital Jazz Fest to their calendars with the announcement of this year’s stellar lineup. The three-day, multi-stage event will take place on Friday, June 7th through Sunday, June 9th at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland and promises to be an event you don’t want to miss.

In addition to an array of choices to wine, dine and bask in the sunshine, the festival will once again feature a spectacular lineup of R&B, soul, jazz and funk artists. It all kicks off Friday night with performances by the Empress of Soul Gladys Knight and legendary singer/songwriter/producer Babyface. Be sure and get plenty of rest afterward, as Saturday is jammed-packed with something to please any musical palette. WHUR’s Angela Stribling will welcome Gregory Porter, India.Arie, Gerald Albright, Selina Albright, Regina Belle, Nick Colionne and Kandace Springs to the Pavilion Stage, and no gathering of soul music lovers would be complete without a tribute to The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. Meanwhile, on the Symphony Woods Stage, Sirius XM Radio air personality Cayman Kelly will host performances by Brian McKnight, Marsha Ambrosius, Kindred the Family Soul, Kenny Lattimore, Leela James and Daley. The star-studded event wraps up on Sunday with another full day of fun with Kem, Patti Austin, Black Violin, Phil Perry, Norman BrownLindsey Webster, The Baylor Project and Isaiah Sharkey on the Pavilion Stage. As part of his farewell tour, funk legend George Clinton will transform the Symphony Woods Stage into the mothership, while Joe, Stephanie Mills, Chrisette Michele, Raheem DeVaughn and Tweet will surely keep the party going.
