Elle Varner continues her triumphant return to music with the release of her new EP, Ellevation. The 9-song project is a placeholder for her long-awaited sophomore album that fans have been clamoring for almost since she dropped her Perfectly Imperfect debut in 2012. Seven long years later, Elle is an older, wiser, very grown and very sexy 30-year-old woman of the world, and Ellevation reflects who and where she is now.
Ellevation includes previous releases "Casanova," “Loving U Blind” and “Pour Me” featuring Wale and current single “Kinda Love.” The remaining five tracks include the slow jams of varying tempos and levels of soulfulness "Coffee On The Roof," "1 to 10," "Wishing Well" with the only other feature on the project from Rapsody, "Number One Song" and the introspective and inspirational closer "Be Encouraged."
Not content with just dropping Ellevation, Varner has also released a music video for "Kinda Love" for our viewing pleasure. Directed by Damien Sandoval, the “Kinda Love” visual finds Elle contemplating her dalliances with romance while exerting her confidence and sexiness. Sandoval's camera focuses on Elle in numerous, tastefully sexy outfits. We're treated to scenes of Elle in a black and red leather outfit on a rooftop, in form-fitting jeans while twirling a clear umbrella as raindrops fall, strutting her stuff in some daisy dukes and baby tee and in a few other vignettes and costumes. Elle evens surprises us with a few dance moves to show us what she's really working with.
No longer an early-20-something learning how to navigate life and love on Perfectly Imperfect, Ellevation is Elle Varner's current soundtrack to navigating life and love on her own terms. Watch her evolution in action in the "Kinda Love" clip and then hear it on Ellevation.
