Jill Scott, Omar, Ari Lennox, BJ The Chicago Kid & More To Rock The 2019 Art Of Cool Festival

Summer festival season is in full swing, and we plan to keep the party going well into the fall. To ensure that real music lovers continue to get their fix even as the seasons change, the good folks at The Dome Group have announced the lineup for the sixth annual Art of Cool Festival, which will take place September 27-29th. Artists and attendees from all over will take over six venues across downtown Durham, NC during a one-of-a-kind, three-day celebration of the culture.

Friday night, microphone maven Jill Scott will be the night's big headliner at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park with Dreamville darling Ari Lennox opening. Elsewhere in the city, the legendary Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels and his band will rock out at the Motorco Music Hall, as well as British sensation Omar Lye-Fook and Durham-based jazz/hip hop quintet ZOOCRÜ. The one and only 9th Wonder and 95 Live will hold down the Armory, while The Armours, Butterscotch, Flint Eastwood and MGL and The Rev take over Pinhook. Those looking to get their late-night groove on can party until dawn at the Masonic Lodge with Neo Soul Café’s DJ Frances Jaye and “The DJ’s Dee Jay” Skaz Digga.

On Saturday, attendees can head back to the Bulls Athletic Park for an old school hip-hop performance that promises to be legendary. Run DMC will surely smoke their headliner performance in celebration of 30 years in the game, and they will be joined by Whodini and Big Daddy Kane alongside his brothers from The Symphony, including Kool G Rap, Craig G and Masta Ace. If something a little more new school with soulful flavor is more your thing, you might head to the Carolina Theater to catch BJ The Chicago Kid, or to Motorco for a performance by LA-collective Emotional Oranges, Chiiild, Jessica Care Moore and Talib Kweli. Once again, later that night, the Armory will rock with the sounds of DJ Skillz and DJ Nabs.
