“Right Back” is a lighthearted bop about trying to reconnect with a special someone. "Now I know we're not dating, nah / Maybe soon by the way things go, we’ve been talking for ages / Take it step by step, slow it down, we just need to be patient,” Khalid croons over synths and finger snaps. Boogie, who opens the track, feels like a natural fit to the song, as he spits lines about a chick who has caught his eye.
In the video, Khalid and A Boogie kick it at a cookout in the park. Boogie starts thing off kicking some game to a fine honey. Meanwhile, Khalid enjoys the rest of the guests, making moves figuratively and literally. While Boogie doesn’t actually boogie during the video, almost everyone else in the clip proves just how light they are on their feet. There are step teams, people engaging in old school dances and a few others just kicking it live and unrehearsed.
