Zedd & Kehlani Have A 'Good Thing' Going

It doesn’t take a whole day to recognize sunshine, and it shouldn’t take a lifetime to recognize your own value, either. And if you follow the lead of Zedd and Kehlani, you'll find yourself becoming a strong, independent spirit. The hit-making producer and R&B starlet have collaborated on a self-love anthem that finds the singer spending some quality time with “me, myself and I.” Self-love anthems are nothing new for Kehlani, with songs like “Be Alright” and “Alive” in her arsenal, and “Good Thing” is a welcome addition to her catalog.

On “Good Thing,” Ms. Parrish takes pride in indulging in a little self-care and in the fact that’s she’s her own homie, lover, friend. “I book myself tables at all the best restaurants then eat alone / I buy myself fast cars just so I can drive them real f**king slow,” she confidently sings on the lead verse. She may be alone, but she's not lonely and her solitude is by choice. Zedd soundtracks Kehlani rolling solo with a simmering, mid-tempo electronic backdrop for the self-love anthem with synths, keys and drums.

"Good Thing" is a slight departure from what we're used to hearing from both Kehlani and Zedd, but it's a welcome change of pace. Fans of the dance music producer are patiently waiting for a new album to follow-up 2015’s True Colors. Meanwhile, Kehlani's been a little busier, releasing her third mixtape, While We Wait, back in February; giving birth to a bouncing baby girl in March and dropping the Arin Ray duet "Change" this summer. She's teased a joint project with Jhené Aiko, and we're pretty much expecting a collab with her new man YG any day now. While we wait to see what's next from both artists, we'll just be loving up on ourselves as we listen to "Good Thing" on repeat.
