It's beginning to look a lot like a flood of holiday music is headed our way. That's right, it's not even Thanksgiving yet and some of your faves are already bombarding us with holiday songs, albums, re-releases and EPs to get you in the Christmas mood. Crooner Elijah Blake — who we last heard from earlier this year when he formed a duo with his homegirl Jordin Sparks — is adding himself to that number with holiday EP that's actually due out this week called Holiday Love and he's introducing us to it with his new single "5 Gold Rings."
For those of us who are a little "bah humbug" when it comes to Christmas tunes, "5 Gold Rings" thankfully differs from the norm. That's because Elijah is laced with a traptastic groove courtesy of producers Matty B and Troy Taylor. This also isn't really a holiday song as much as it's a song using holiday terminology. Sure, he's talking about sleighs, snow, mistletoe and even references "The 12 Days Of Christmas" in its title and chorus. However, he flips all that just to talk about the plush way he's living and the lavish ways he's spending on his lady love. Basically, it's Christmas music for those who love trap&B but don't like Christmas music.
"5 Gold Rings" won't tickle everybody's holiday fancy but it might be the perfect song to transition into the season. Listen to the track below and look for Elijah Blake's Holiday Love to arrive on November 8th.
