Esmé Issues A Dreamy Invitation On 'Come With Me'

Australian singer/songwriter Esmé is gearing up to take her place among the sea of female vocalists of this generation. With her distinctive and delightful tone, she’s sure to stand out from the breathy trap queens and join the likes of those with more peaceful auras such as Alina Baraz and Lianne La Havas. Her latest single “Come With Me” gives newcomers a clear view of her lustful and dreamy sound. She says the tempting track was built organically and explains, “With three chords and just an idea of a melody, we headed into the studio and created 'Come With Me' in the moment. This song is about being intrigued and attracted to someone and asking them to follow you in a come hither kind of way.” Though the track we hear today is actually the result of a rework by German producer Amillian, who breathed new life into the original, stripped-down version with heavier beat and an electro vibe, both versions are elegant and enchanting to the listener's ear.

This most recent release follows her summer single entitled “Ella,” named after one of her biggest inspirations, Ella Fitzgerald. As a quick glance of her social media profiles reveals images of the legendary vocalist scattered along her timeline, she explains that she was always drawn to a certain kind of jazz voice going up. She says, “A breathy sound that almost seems fragile, but it isn’t, and often reminiscent of a horn instrument, like Chet Baker. Listening to voices like Ella Fitzgerald always took me to a lighter place when I was young; this song kind of pays homage to that feeling, and to her.” With her re-energized sound and renewed confidence, Esmé is now ready to showcase a full, cohesive body of work and we look forward to her debut EP, due out in 2020.
