In a matter of weeks, it will be the year 2020. While you let the fact that we are 20 whole years into the New Millenium sink in, you're really gonna trip when you realize how many classic soul and R&B albums will also turn 20 next year. There's Sade's Lovers Rock, D'Angelo's Voodoo and Erykah Badu's Mama's Gun to name a few. Also in that number is the stellar debut album from one of our favorite soul sisters, Jill Scott.

Who Is Jill Scott? Words And Sounds Vol. 1 introduced us to the singer-songwriter lovingly referred to as Jilly from Philly who had us caught up in her rapture with songs like "A Long Walk," "The Way" and "He Loves Me (Lyzel in E Flat)." Released in July 2000, Who Is Jill Scott? made that summer even hotter and gained her a legion of fans who months later witnessed those songs come to life on her debut headlining tour, the Words And Sounds Tour (which yielded a live album, Experience: Jill Scott 826+, in 2001).

Jill Scott plans to bring those songs and that iconic album back to life with the announcement of her Who Is Jill Scott? Words And Sounds Vol. 1 20th Anniversary Tour. Anyone who missed the Words And Sounds Tour back in the day will get their chance to see and hear Scott sing the album in full this go 'round but with a twist. “I’m going to be true to the album set list. I’ll do every song in the order of the album," the songstress told Billboard. "I will create musical arrangements for the songs purposed with new energy, but keep the integrity of the original songs they love. Expect theater. Expect incredible musicianship. Expect love.” Having seen Jill Scott perform multiple times over the years, we would expect nothing less.
