Heather Victoria Takes Us To ‘Japan’ By Way Of North Carolina

This past October, Heather Victoria dropped her EP Boutique Hotel to the delight of fans who eagerly awaited its release, and the resident songbird of JAMLA Records came correct on the project with her brand of soulful R&B. Boutique Hotel wasn't the only thing that Heather Victoria released, also dropping a visual for lead single "Japan."

In lieu of filming in the Far East, Heather keeps things close to home in the video, filming in Raleigh, North Carolina at the Pour House Music Hall. At the beginning of the clip, HV rolls up to the venue in a limo and sees a line of people stretched down the block filing inside to see her. She arrives, and her glam squad puts the finishing touches on her look to make sure that she's concert-ready. While backstage, she exchanges some text messages with her boo who assures her that he's gonna do whatever it takes to be there. We see Heather walking to the stage with the confidence of Diana Ross and looking just as fly as The Boss in a bedazzled gown and white mink stole. Surrounded by her band, she steps to the mic and serenades the audience with her angelic notes. The majority of the clip focuses on her performance, with shots of the audience and band grooving throughout. The only person we don't see is Heather's man, and she is aware of his absence, too, as she looks for him in the crowd in vain. She ends her show a little disappointed, but she had no reason to worry because her love was waiting to surprise her backstage with a candlelight dinner and first-class plane tickets to – you guessed it – Japan.

If you'd like to see Heather Victoria perform live for yourself, you don't have to travel that far to see her thankfully. Her first concert of 2020 will be alongside Charlie Smarts for a double album release show and party for her Boutique Hotel and his We Had A Good Thing Going on Saturday, January 25th at Kings in Raleigh. Tickets are on sale now via Eventbrite.
