Since the release of her 2019 debut EP, aptly titled Intro, Lola Young has been causing quite a stir across the pond. The talented singer-songwriter from South London is wisely taking advantage of the buzz in preparation for her next project Renaissance. Her latest track, "Pick Me Up," gives us a hint of what to expect.

She says the song "is about the struggles of a relationship, and the highs and lows of being in love but also the difficulty of feeling like you only want a person more when they ‘let you down.'" Even at the tender age of 19, Miss Lola speaks with the wisdom of the elders. It seems love has taught her some hard lessons, singing, "Carrying anger’s a funny’s thing, but I bag it / Putting on love is another thing, and I wear it like a mask / These times is changing fast / My mascara’s running and I just can’t keep up." The Manuka production featuring moody piano chords and laid-back beats is just the right showcase for her soulful tone. She unexpectedly flips it towards the end, injecting swag and sass with some infectious bars.

We'll be all ears when Renaissance drops on April 7th. In the meantime, preview the track below and head to your favorite retailer to add "Pick Me Up" to your playlist. Afterwards, keep up with Lola Young via Facebook and Instagram.
