We'd like to add something to your list of things to come and that's new music from the ever-talented Ledisi. The songstress has been quiet on the music front since the release of her 2017 album Let Love Rule. However, she's now showing promise of a possible new project with the release of her latest single "Anything For You."
"Anything For You" is exactly the kind of love song you'd expect from Ledisi. She teams once again with frequent collaborators Rex Rideout and Jairus "J.MO" Mozee for the track, which channels a classic feel. Part of that is because of the musical arrangement, with a guitar riff that is reminiscent of D'Angelo's "Untitled," lush piano and sure and steady drums. The other part of it is Ledisi herself. She's already known for stellar vocals and she flexes her skills here, meeting somewhere between the secular and spiritual while professing her undying love and devotion. "I will do anything for you / You are my life / One means us two / I'll do anything / Anything for you," she sings on the chorus, making us feel just as in love as she seems on the record.
Ledisi rarely releases singles without more new music coming right behind it. We have a sneaking suspicion that this will be the case with "Anything For You," which is the first single om her own label, Listen Back Entertainment, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.
