UMI Celebrates 'Mother' Earth

While environmental protection should be celebrated and supported every day, multitalented artist UMI penned a love song to our planet entitled “Mother” and released it on Earth Day. The lovely ballad follows her previous single "Picture Perfect" and her 2019 visual EP Love Language. On "Mother," she sings directly to Mother Earth and praises her power as well as her vulnerabilities. She notes our connection to her and also the toll human greed and recklessness has taken. The track is a beautiful ode to her majesty, while serving as a word of caution and push for change.

The visual, co-directed by UMI and Joce, captures all the beauty, life and wonder that inhabit the earth. We catch glimpses of rolling hills, rushing water and roaming wildlife. Perched in the middle of it all is UMI and her own mother, Akiko, as they love on each other and bask in all of nature’s glory. UMI explains, “I believe there is a deep connection between Earth and Mother. The idea that Mother Earth is a selfless creator and giver. I wrote this song as a letter of gratitude to Mother Earth and to my own mother for this existence. I hope that through this song we become more aware of our connection to Earth and our responsibility to protect it.”

Watch UMI’s “Mother” below and be sure to add the track to your collection from your preferred digital platform. Though the word on the street is that more new music from UMI is imminent, in the meantime you can revisit her previous releases Love Language and her debut EP Interlude, which was released back in 2018.
