Times are strange but that strangeness has caused our favorite creatives to get even more creative when it comes to promoting their music. This is especially true when it comes to the realm of music videos. We've seen what a few folks have done in order to keep us entertained (some to great effect...others not so much). R&B singer Mario is joining the fray with a video for his sensual and sexy recent single "Closer."
Mario looks to the vibrant iPod commercials of the early aughts for inspiration in the animated visual. He appears as a silhouette against a deep red background, with his jewels, ice and teeth adding a white contrast. It's not just him, though, as a short-haired and nimble dancer is also in silhouette and moving her body in amazing ways. Interspersed between their solo scenes are images that suggest exoticism and eroticism. These include blooming flowers, slithering snakes, knots that tangle and untangle, scorpions and butterflies in flight. While not necessarily sensual on their own, when it's all combined it becomes a titillating endeavor sure to light your fire.
We're looking at a summer full of music, and Mario is going to be right in the middle of it. "Closer" is set to appear on the singer's upcoming EP Closer To Mars, which will arrive sometime in June. Until then, you can get into the slick visuals for "Closer" below.
