Chloe x Halle 'Do It' Up With City Girls, Doja Cat & Mulatto For The Remix

Chloe x Halle have arguably had the Song of the Summer for 2020 with their blazing single "Do It" from their sophomore album Ungodly Hour.  As we approach autumn, the soulful sisters are giving the track another life and have assembled a few leading ladies in the rap game – Doja Cat, Mulatto and City Girls – for the remix to “Do It.”

The track remains largely the same with a few subtle changes to the bass line and some added oohs and coos from the sisters on the remix. Doja opens up the festivities with an aggressive flow in her patented squeaky voice, along with some adlibs. Yung Miami jumps in after the first verse by Chloe x Halle with a laid-back flow. JT follows her partner in crime with a more upbeat, rhythmic flow. The newest kid on the block, Mulatto closes things out popping big ish like a vet. Just when you thought things were over, Chloe x Halle surprisingly come through with their own flow.

While all the artists do a decent job of riding the beat, there’s an overall lack of cohesion and substance. They get an A for effort, but this is not on the level of Brandy's "I Wanna Be Down" remix featuring Queen Latifah, MC Lyte and Yo Yo aka one of the all-time greatest female rapper posse cuts and hip-hop remixes of an R&B cut. Nonetheless, it is nice to see that all these young ladies rocking together and ready for a good and ratchet ladies' night out.
