RILEY is on her way! We've been singing her praises ever since we first saw her on our TV screens as Mercedes in the hit series Glee. After wrecking shop on stage and screen and giving use glimpses of what she can do in a studio, the singer is leaning into her recording career with a new EP due next month. She's introducing us to it with her new track "BGE."
While we know that the sista can belt better than many of the artists on the charts right now, RILEY goes a different route on "BGE." She instead decides to talk her ish and flaunt her confidence as she asserts her power. "I got that big girl energy / I got that hood that's still in me / That's why he hates to, hates to love me," she sings on the chorus as a groove that's reminiscent of "Computer Love" pours through the speakers. Meanwhile, the verses find her letting her man know that she doesn't need him to validate her.
That attitude is further continued in the song's video. She exudes Cali cool as she drapes herself in form-fitting fashions while looking impeccably coiffed. She also shows love to her fellow full-figured sistas who are running things. That number includes a few of her famous friends, including Jordin Sparks and Gabourey Sidibe, who kick it with their girl RILEY while she schools us about her type of energy.
Along with her recent single "A Moment," "BGE" has us ready to dive into what RILEY has in store for her debut. Get into her energy when you check out the single and video below.
